Almost as a follow-up of my Bachelor’s thesis, I decided to write my Master’s thesis about a musical topic again and even integrate the outcomes of my previous thesis project. Eventually, I came up with a solution for software-based search of songs in MIDI databases by providing the system with short monophonic recordings of melody fragments. To meet today’s technical convenience standards, I even created an Android app (called “MidSearch”) that simplifies this process for the user.
I have been implementing the practical part in autumn 2020 to early 2021 using tools like Kotlin, PostgreSQL and Android Studio. In July 2021 I finally finished the thesis and graduated from university.
Below you can find a screenshot of the “MidSearch” app.
